Position: Home Support Worker

WORK LOCATION: Maple, Ontario, L6A 0G2

HOURS: 30 hrs/week 

PAY: $21.00 per hour

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Home Support Worker to join our family and provide personalized care for an elderly gentleman over 70. We are looking for someone who can offer not just assistance but also companionship and kindness. This is a unique opportunity to help maintain their independence and dignity in the comfort of their own home while improving their daily lives.

Duties and responsibilities:

·      Assist with daily personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, tailored to the needs of a disabled senior.

·      Assist with ambulation, transferring, and positioning to ensure safety and comfort.

·      Offer emotional support and engage in activities that promote mental stimulation and companionship.

·      Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals, including accommodating any special dietary requirements.

·      Oversee and assist in administering prescribed medications, ensuring compliance with the treatment plan.

·      Perform light housekeeping tasks, including laundry, dishwashing, and maintaining a clean living environment for the clients.

·      Report any changes in physical or emotional conditions to family members or health professionals as needed.

·      Ensure a safe home environment by preventing hazards and addressing mobility challenges.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate or relevant education is required.
  • Verifiable First Aid & CPR Certificate is required.
  • 1 to less than 7 months in a similar role is required.
  • Clear communication skills to engage effectively with family members and relay information.
  • The ability to follow instructions and collaborate with family members and medical personnel.
